Finished Grade 5 hex nut, coarse UNC 7/16-14 thread, manufactured from tempered medium‑carbon steel to SAE J995. Nominal dimensions for a 7/16-14 Grade 5 finished hex nut are approximately 11/16" (width across flats) by 3/8" (height) and conform to ASME B18.2.2. Commonly supplied zinc‑plated (or cadmium plated for mil‑spec variants) for moderate corrosion resistance. Sold individually or in small consumer packs by hardware retailers and in bulk by industrial distributors; intended for automotive and general‑purpose fastening where Grade 5 strength is specified.
